Thomas Alan Gray, 68, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2016 after a courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis. Tom resided most of his life in Salem, OR. As a child, he was a prankster older brother to his three younger siblings. After graduating McNary High School, Tom became a Marine and served in the Vietnam War. Tom spent most of his career in the construction industry, owning an excavating company that operated throughout the Pacific Northwest. Upon retirement, he headed to the sun where he resided in both Scottsdale and Palm Springs. Tom was always sporting a tan – he loved the outdoors and floating in his swimming pool. Tom will be remembered for his big heart, silly nicknames, obsession with John Wayne movies, incredible sense of humor and wonderful outlook on life. He brought laughter to any situation. Tom had a motto to live life to the fullest, today. He recently said, "It was a great ride! I've done everything on my bucket list, and not many people can say that." Tom leaves behind his daughter, Michelle; son, Anthony and daughter-in-law, Jessica; siblings John, Jim and Tamara; and, three grandchildren he adored. He was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Amanda Gray. Tom will be greatly missed by his family and friends. A private family service with military honors will be held June 27th, and Tom will be laid to rest at Miramar National Cemetery in San Diego, CA.
