Susan Alicia Wood age 77 of Detroit, MI passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 31, 2019 in San Diego, CA from complications of lung cancer. Susan was born February 06, 1942 in Detroit MI. She was born to William and Alicia (Patterson) Jones. She grew up and went to school in Michigan, and graduated from Redford High School. Susan moved from Michigan to Southern California with her three children in 1973 in order to pursue the warm climate change. Over the years she worked as a hair dresser and later furthered her education in the medical field and worked in a number of medical offices. When Susan retired, she did so with Sharp Rees-Stealy Medical Group. Susan had a passion for music and dancing. Any free chance she could get, she would go watch her mother play piano at local clubs with her sister. Susan loved animals, especially dogs and cats. There were times she would bring home pets from local animal shelters just because she has a soft spot for them. When Susan had some downtime, she loved to relax by going to the movies, watch TV, and socialize with her friends. A few days before she passed, Susan said to her children that she wanted to go see her mother and her old boyfriend, so she could go dancing. Dance away mom, we know you loved to dance. Susan is survived by her sons, Michael Philbrook (Elizabeth), Mark Brosnan (Susan), her daughter, Carrie Monti (Andrew), her sister Carol Brett, grandsons Ryan and Bryce, granddaughters, Elizabeth, Emily, Brianna, Brailyn, nine great grandchildren, numerous nieces, and her cat Boomer.
