In Loving Memory of Scottie Lloyd Smith, 38 of Jamul, California, who passed away on August 23, 2016 at home after a long battle with Melanoma Cancer. He was born in Somerset, Kentucky on April 16, 1978, son of Lloyd and the late Jurlean "Jean" Smith. He served as an active duty Electronics Technician First Class Petty Officer (ET1) in the United States Navy for 20 honorable years. He received a Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal for his faithful and dedicated service. Scottie enjoyed spending time with his family, camping, cooking, and traveling. He loved watching his son race BMX, play lacrosse and even was the assistant coach on his son's little league team. Scottie also enjoyed shooting, archery, cycling, and sailing. Scottie was part of the Navy Safe Harbor, Wounded Warrior Team and was proud to recently participate in the 2016 Wounded Warrior Games in West Point, NY. He is survived by his loving wife of 13 years Malissia Smith, two sons Adam Smith, and Hunter Smith, grandson Tristan, father Lloyd Smith, sister Rhonda Mitchell, niece Jessica Mitchell, parents-in-law Charles and Genie Doyle, brother-in-law Charles & Delanna Doyle and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his mother Jurlean "Jean" Smith and his grandparents. Scottie will be missed by all those that had the privilege to know him. Fair Winds and Following Seas. A funeral service will be held at a September 30th in Virginia. Details to be announced.
