Born in Pittsfield, MA August 18, 1927 to Mildred Salls and Clarence Tooley. One brother, Ralph Tooley, one half-brother, Gordon Shepard. He was raised by his grandmother Tooley in Pittsfield where he attended school. His brother Ralph was raised by an aunt and uncle. He joined the US Navy, serving for four years. Married and Had one son, Robert Tooley. He started a bakery business. Tiring of that he helped at the USO playing records for the young servicemen to dance. From a friend he learned that San Diego was a ripe harvest for this venture. So he moved here and began his years as a mobile DJ. He started playing for the various military bases in San Diego, later building a large following of private parties, business affairs, and events at Disneyland, private corporations, weddings, engagement parties, receptions, and Holiday Celebrations followed. His first persona was Buckboard Bobby, followed by Disco Days, and concluded with Celebrations by Bob Tooley. He met and married Diane Brinkley on Cinco de Mayo in 2002. They lived in Descanso for 15 years. Surviving Bob is Diane Tooley, his wife of 15 years. Bob is also survived by his son, Robert Tooley of Omaha NE. Extended family include: Peter Leach, Chuck Doan, Daniel Doan, Michael Doan, Robert Doan and their wives, children and grands. Diane's three children, Teanne Wolf of Descanso, Christopher Brinkley and his wife Denise of AZ, Timothy Brinkley and his wife Marion of NC, and Krista Trimlett, her husband Andy, and their two boys, Charlie, and Oliver, of San Diego.
