Robert Dwight Henderson (Bob) was born August 16, 1942 in McDonald, Pennsylvania. He was the only child of the (late) Theresa Henderson Ellis and the (late) Preston Henderson, Jr. His transition to be with the Lord was December 18, 2017. He was a devoted and loving husband and father. He graduated from Fort Cherry High School in 1960. He joined the United States Air Force and completed studies in Computer Programming and served for five years in several capacities and locations, including Northern Honshu, Japan and Olmsted AFB in Middletown, Pa. He also supported the U.S. during the Cuban Missile Crisis. After returning from Japan (still enlisted), he met the love of his life, Beatrice (Bea) Chambers in 1963. They were married on April 15, 1965 in Middletown, Pa. After 5 years in the military, he was recruited by NCR (National Cash Register) Corporation and they moved to Dayton, Ohio in September 1965. During his career with NCR he held various executive management positions, Associate Vice President and multiple Vice President positions in Dayton, OH and San Diego, CA, receiving numerous commendations throughout his career. He spent 37 years in corporate leadership positions at NCR which provided him with invaluable experience in his second career at Sun MicroSystems, where he worked for seven additional years before retiring. Bob's warm smile and gentle laugh drew people to him. His approachability was a source of leadership, influence and strength. His quick humor made him the center of fun with family, friends, golf partners and anyone who had the opportunity to meet him. Bob was well-respected and loved by many. He cherished special relationships he had with his family and others. He enjoyed competition and physical activities. He loved participating in team sports such as basketball and softball and then developed a passion for golf, which eventually became his primary leisure and competitive activity. His other passion throughout his life was travel. He traveled to many parts of the world (Europe and Asia) while in the military and then extensively during his professional career (Europe, South Africa, Asia, China, etc.) He then incorporated his passion for travel by planning and coordinating personal trips with his family, close friends and relatives. He was an outstanding trip planner and created memorable once-in-a lifetime experiences for his family. In the early hours on Monday, December 18, 2017, God called Bob home. On the preceding day, he had an enjoyable time playing golf, going to dinner, and watching his favorite team's (Pittsburgh Steelers) football game. After watching a movie, Bob left this world peacefully. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Beatrice (Bea), his son, Robert Mark Henderson (Robb), his son-in-law, D. Anthony Jensen (Tony), many close cousins, including: Gail Matera (Mark), William Thornton (Jaimie); Sylvia Adams (Wayne); Timothy Thornton; LaVerne Spencer; Signora Farris and a host of nieces, nephews, godchildren, relatives and extended family, golfing partners and many, many dear friends world-wide.
