Robert Fansler went to be with our Lord on October 6, 2017, having lived a wonderful life with Barbara, his wife of 35 years this month, married October 30, 1982. As a young man, he joined the U.S. Navy where he served as a Corpsman attached to the Marines. He had many hobbies including cooking, woodworking, and hunting and fishing in the great outdoors. Bob loved sports such as football, NASCAR and IndyCar. He enjoyed traveling and went to Long Beach annually for the Grand Prix, and places such as Lake Tahoe, where he and Barbara spent their honeymoon. He enjoyed family events and often cooked for large groups such as various BBQs. He was wonderful with animals and, together, he and Barbara loved and cared for many rescued horses, dogs and cats through the years.
Bob is survived by his wife Barbara, his sister Lin (husband Lorenzo), and six children: Richard (wife Tanya), Debbie (husband David), Laura (husband Jerry), Suzie, Lorraine, and Chelsea (husband Jeff) and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great, great grandchildren.
Bob was a wonderful man with a great sense of humor, and an ability to enjoy life. He will be greatly missed by all.
Services will be held at Miramar National Cemetery located at 5795 Nobel Dr., San Diego, CA 92122 on October 30, 2017. Miramar requests that attendees be there no later than 11:00 am, with services starting promptly at 11:30 am. Visitors attending committal services will gather near the front entrance in cortege lane 2, on the right, or as directed by a representative. There will be a vehicle procession to the shelter where the service will take place.
Flowers may be sent to Miramar National Cemetery, attention Barbara Fansler, but the flowers must be delivered between 10:45am – 11:15am, on October 30th. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making a donation to the American Heart Association in honor of Robert Fansler.
