Richard "Rick" Darren White, 51, of Mira Mesa passed away peacefully on the morning of 15 September 2016 at his home surrounded by loved ones.
Born 23 July 1965 in Portland, Oregon, Rick graduated from Milwaukie High School in Portland and followed his father's example of Naval service as a hospital corpsman by enlisting in 1984. While stationed at Naval Hospital Twentynine Palms he met a young Marine who became Julie Ryan White on 20 December 1986.
A graduate of the nursing program at George Mason University and Masters of Nursing Anesthesia at Georgetown, Rick served the Navy Nurse Corps at Naval Medical Center San Diego, Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton, Naval Hospital Twentynine Palms, and aboard the USS Boxer during Operation Enduring Freedom before retiring from Naval service at the rank of Commander in 2007.
Preceded in death by his only sister Sherri Lynn Knobel (nee White) and survived by parents Richard A. and Carol Lynn White of Portland, wife Julie Ryan White and sons Richard Corey White (25) and Zachary Ryan White (23) of Mira Mesa.
An internment service with military honors will be held at Miramar National Cemetery on 23 September 2016 from 15:00 to 15:30. If you are planning to attend, please show up at 14:45.
