Peter Nicholas Kamaris, 66, was born June 20, 1951 in Chicago and passed on November 30, 2017 at his daughter's home in San Diego. He is survived by his son, Keith (Jenn), daughter, Kristin (Yiga) Miyashiro, loving twin brother, Perry (Amelia); mother of his children, Joyce (Jerry); five grandchildren; Aidan, Landon, Sophia, Kaito, and Takashi; his beloved golden retriever, Gia; as well as many others in an extended family and close friends who are all thankful to have been blessed by knowing him.
Peter reached the rank of Captain and retired from the National Guard after 23 years of honorable service.
In 2000 Peter moved from the Chicagoland area to Menifee, CA. He was also an avid reader, enjoyed meeting people at the dog park, and going to the gun range with his friends.
In 2009 Peter was diagnosed with amyloidosis and fought with all of his being for 8 years.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, Nick and Julia Kamaris and leaves behind a huge network of family and friends who will always cherish the time they got to spend with him.
Peter's life will be celebrated with military honors on Thursday, December 14th, 10:00 am at Miramar National Cemetery. Please arrive at 9:30 am for entry. The service is open to anyone who would like to attend. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Amyloidosis Foundation at
