Paul Lauritz Davidson was born in Seattle, Washington to Elsie Vigar and Severt Davidson on May 23, 1928. Paul’s older sister, Beverly, was a fun playmate and trusted confidante from childhood on. When he was 9 years old, they moved outside Seattle city limits to Bitter Lake. He enjoyed playing on the lake with Bev, fishing, hiking, and putting around in his little reclaimed motorboat.

In 1942, they moved to Elsinore, California. Paul graduated at Elsinore High School as the Valedictorian. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the US Navy. He continued his education and career in Medicine by attending Pharmacy School, again graduating as Valedictorian, followed by Medical School at the University of California, Berkeley and San Francisco. He completed his Family Practice Residency at Ventura General Hospital in Ventura, California.

Paul met his wife, Shirley, who he lovingly referred to as his best friend, during his residency in Ventura. They were married July 1, 1961 in Ventura then honeymooned for five weeks driving from Ventura to Acapulco, Mexico, and back up to San Diego where they established their home. Shirley continued to work as a nurse and Paul began his medical career as a Family Practice Doctor. Paul and Shirley had three children; Kristina, Duane, and Julie. He greatly appreciated their unique qualities that collectively made his life complete and joyful. He is very proud of them and the legacy that they carry forward. Paul was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and enjoyed serving in various callings, specifically home-teaching with his son. One of his personal life highlights was when he was sealed to his family in the San Diego Temple.

Paul loved helping and serving others and took great pride in his role as a physician. He worked with various populations to include the Padres and Chargers teams, his own personal patients, and he and a partner opened a separate clinic to serve populations without resources. He created his home to be a place of peace and enjoyment for him and his family. His yard was his pride and joy and included rose bushes, avocados, loquats, olallieberries, various citrus, banana, and macadamia nut trees. He loved working and being in it. He loved the Temple and took great pride in caring for the garden in the atrium. Paul enjoyed the outdoors. Hiking, skiing, fishing, walking along the beach, surfing, sailing, running, playing tennis, and in later years liked his water aerobics class. He was very health conscious and liked to exercise, encouraging those around him to be as well. He enjoyed cooking and baking. He loved his Norwegian and English heritage and instilled that same passion in his family. Above all else, he loved his family.

He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather… always looking for ways to bring joy and laughter! After living a very full 98 years, Paul peacefully passed away and rejoined his beloved wife, Shirley, on July 20, 2026. Paul is preceded in death by his sweetheart, Shirley, and his parents Elsie and Severt. He is survived by his sister, Beverly Rooney, and children, Kristina (Leroy) Alicea, Duane Davidson, and Julie (Marriner) Oldham, his eight grandchildren, and his eleven great-grandchildren
