Pastor Carey Norman went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 25th 2018. He felt called into the ministry at the young age of 14 and after graduating from Biola College and Talbot Seminary went on to become the Pastor of Westview Bible Church, where he has faithfully served as their beloved Pastor for over 40 years. He loved his church family dearly and compassionately and always felt it a privilege and a joy to pastor the flock. During that time, he also served as the Senior Chaplain of the San Diego Sheriff's Department for the last 22 years. Along with his fellow chaplains, he came to love and care for the men and women of the department and those in the law enforcement and safety community. He prayed fervently for all of them as well as our military service personnel and our country's leaders. For those who knew him, the game of golf was another passion, with countless stories of good times shared with family and friends who shared their love (and depending on the day) their frustration with the sport. But greater than his passion for golf, was his passion for reaching those who did not know his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. That is why he supported and directed Whitefield's Missions for so many years. He yearned to plant churches in other countries and teach pastors the word of God so that they might share God's promises and truths in their native languages. He very much enjoyed working with this international missions group and serving on the board with the partners here and in Canada. Carey is survived by his wife of 40 years, Kitty; 4 daughters Holly, Kristy, Sarah and Lindsay; 3 son-in-laws John, Josh and J.P.; and 10 grandchildren Caleb, Nathan, Aaron, Caitlyn, Judah, Eli, Rachel, Sofia, Isabel and Gabriel. He is also survived by his older and younger brothers Jim and David Norman, and dear family friends Dean and Sheila Roberts and Christine Parks. Carey experienced immense love, joy and laughter with his family and considered himself a man most blessed in this regard.
