Jean Roth, 74, of El Cajon passed away in Sharp Hospice care on Thursday March 31st. She was born in Kansas City, MO to Olney and Emogene Hilderbrand on June 12, 1941. She grew up in Kansas City but moved to San Diego in 1968 and stayed. She spent most of her working career with Rohr Inc. in Chula Vista serving as an executive assistant to several company officers. She met husband Don while they were both working at Rohr and they married on June 26, 1982.
Jean and Don retired in 2003 and began a wonderful leisure life together with both being the other's best friend as well as marriage partner. They were never happier than when it was just the two of them going through life together, finding new adventures at every turn.
Jean and Don were avid travelers visiting many spots around the globe: most European countries, South America, Australia, New Zealand, Iceland, China and South Africa to name just a few. They were active in Meals-On-Wheels San Diego acting as both meal deliverers and serving on administrative committees of the organization.
Jean was an avid tole painter and made many lasting friends through organizations like San Diego Brushwhackers with whom she painted as often as she could.
They were active patrons of the arts with season tickets to several local theatre groups.
Jean is survived by her husband Don, sons Kent and Michael, grandchildren Heather and Colten and great-granddaughters Mary Lou and Annabelle.
Jean's beaming smile and ready laugh were beloved by all who knew her. All our lives were enriched by having her in them.
Jean wished to be cremated with her ashes to be scattered in a place that was very important to her and Don. There will be a Celebration of Life ceremony for immediate family and closest friends at a later date.
Instead of cards and flowers, Jean specifically asked that friends make a donation in her name to their favorite charity.
