On the evening of April 23, 2016, Michael passed away at Thornton Hospital in La Jolla, CA surrounded by family. He was a strong, caring, 45 year old man battling cancer. His will to survive and live life to the fullest was courageous and brave. Michael is survived by his wife Suzan, Daughter Danielle, Son Michael Jr., Sisters Dorothy, Mary, Cathy, Michelle, Brother Joe, and his faithful companions Jamil and Kiko.
Michael was born February 10, 1971 in Escondido, CA. He was the fifth child, and second son, of Warren and Evangelina Bousquet. Michael spent most of his childhood in Escondido, California and Plattsburgh, New York. As a child, you would find Michael playing in the dirt making mud pies or setting up stunts with his army men. He loved playing games with family from long monopoly games to socker bobbers with his brother and sisters.
He attended Orange Glen High, in Escondido, CA and graduated from Saranac High School in Saranac, NY where he excelled in soccer and track. His speed left people in their tracks.
Michael started his career in the Navy at the young age of 19 and began his travels around the world. He met his wife, Suzan, in Scotland where he worked as a CTT Cryptologist Technician. He served in Diego Garcia, Maine, San Diego and Japan. Along with humanitarian tours in remote areas of the world. His last duty station was Japan where he spent 14 years. Michael was both a loving husband for 21 years to Suzan and father of two children Michael Jr. and Danielle.
He served his country proudly in the Navy for 25 years and took an honorable discharge from the Navy on August 28th, 2015, due to disability as a proud Senior Chief. He was always available for family and friends and would do whatever to support them. He would make sure to help others before himself whether it was his sailors, or his family.
His passion was soccer and you could always find him on the field when he wasn't with his family or working. He loved walks in the sunny weather of San Diego with his dog Jamil.
Called "San Diego Mike" by his friends Michael loved football and soccer. He was looking forward to the draft choices made by the Chargers, hoping the team would be strong this year. He was passionate about sports and could tell you anything about any sports team.
Michael was diagnosed with Lymphoma in February, 2015, and it took away his healthy strength, but never dampened his spirit to live and positive mental attitude. He fought until the very end. His spirit will live on through his family, who he still surrounds with his incredible strength.
His service will be at Murphy Canyon Chapel on May 4, 2016 at 11:00 AM, 3200 Santo Road San Diego, CA 92124 and Miramar National Cemetery on at 1:00 pm. 5795 Nobel Drive, San Diego, CA 92122
