Martha Coxe passed away on September 15 after a short illness. Born in Los Angeles, she came to San Diego when she was 3 to live with her aunt/uncle. She attended Washington Elementary, Roosevelt Junior High and graduated from San Diego High School in 1945. She made life-long girlfriends in junior high, loved history, sports and the beach. She married the love of her life, Dick Coxe in 1949 and they spent their life having fun – golf, tennis, fishing, camping, traveling. She was a dedicated coach's wife and mother to two daughters. She conducted research on her Vejar California family of which she was 6th generation. Marty is survived by daughters Kathy Martin and Joni Birse, son-in-law Alan Birse, grandson Kelly Martin, granddaughter Heather (Birse) Howard and her husband Zac and great-granddaughter Madelyn Howard. She was preceded in death by her husband and grandson, Kevin Birse. Donations are greatly appreciated to the San Diego History Center
