Maria del Carmen Castillo de Rose, 96, of San Diego California, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2026, surrounded by her family.

Born on November 7, in Pescadero, Baja California, Mexico, Carmen lived an adventurous and full life. In 1957, Carmen met the love of her life, Roy “B” Rose, and for 67 years they built a love that withstood the many tests of life. Carmen was devoted to her faith and her family; she cared for her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and everyone else’s children, both grown and young. Carmen and Roy kept their doors open and their oven warm for anyone who needed a place to rest or a meal to eat. Between caring for multiple generations of Roses, knitting, watching soap operas, or yelling at Roy to shut up, Carmen enjoyed traveling, fishing, and shopping. In 2008, Carmen cemented her own fishing legacy when she set the world record for largest shortfin Corvina.

Carmen was preceded in death by her husband, Roy B Rose, and is survived by seven of her children, Carmen Blanco, Margarita Blanco, Barbara Rose, Melinda Rose, Martha Evans, Roy Rose, and Marie Caroline Meza, as well as many cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
