Our guardian angel, our Grandma Marci or Chickie, as she was known by, passed away peacefully early Tuesday, July 25th, 2017 after 84 wonderful years of life. She is reunited in heaven with her mother, father, sister Barbara, and brother Herbert.
Marcella was born in Norwich, Connecticut to Stephen and Yvonne Kiecolt. She graduated from Norwich Free Academy and attended New Haven Teacher's College. Her adventurous nature led her cross the country to Long Beach to continue her teaching career. Shortly after, she married and started a family. Later, she became a successful small business owner for 50 years.
Marcella, the matriarch of our family, was an amazing woman, a wonderful mother, and a loving grandmother. She was only 4'11'' but had an immense presence. She was loyal and adventurous. She took many trips to see the world and enjoyed bringing her grandchildren along for the ride. Our journeys with her will never be forgotten and she lives in everything we do.
Her true talent was friendship. She could pick up a conversation with anyone and an instant friendship sprouted. She kept friendships that lasted a lifetime and build new ones for years to come. She was the best daughter, sister, aunt, mother, friend, and grandma anyone could ask for. She was the binding in our family book, a role that can never be filled again.
Marcella leaves behind her child and his spouse, Keith and Janette McElfresh, her grandchildren and their spouses, Lanae and Michael Cervantes, Jenna and Matthew Scott, and Amber McElfresh, and her great-grandchildren Isabel, Mac, Ella, and Lovie Cervantes. Her memory lives on in our lives.
