On October 19th, 1920 a second son was born to Luigi and Mary Guidi in Collinsville, CA. They moved to San Diego when he was two years old. He was pre-deceased in death by the love of his life, his wife, Sarah, his parents Luigi and Mary Guidi, his brothers Gus, Tony and Gino. He is survived by his children Mary Lou (Joe) D'Amato, Louis (Dina) Guidi, Jack (Karen) Guidi and Michael (Roselyn) Guidi, as well as his brother Julio (Virginia) Guidi. He is also survived by his nine grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren as well as one great great granddaughter with another one on the way!
Louis was a commercial fisherman at the age of fifteen. He fished with his father, brother Gus and Uncle Vito Romani. He enlisted in the navy during WWII. He served for three years as a recognizance diver. After the war he went tuna fishing with his family and became a captain until he retired.
He enjoyed taking his grandchildren clam digging and fishing on his small boat "the Regina Christine." He enjoyed watching the boys play football, baseball and lacrosse and loved telling stories about the old days to anyone who would listen. He thought he was the best cook in the family, we all humored him, but we all thought Mom was better! He certainly did enjoy it, especially with his old friends "the Fish Mongers."
His rosary and funeral mass will be held at 9:00 am Friday December the 2nd, 2016 at Our Lady of the Rosary Church. In lieu of flowers, donations to Scripps San Diego Hospice would be appreciated for all the wonderful work that they do. We also want to thank his wonderful caregivers, Raul and Bertha, for all their love and support.
