Kim Catalano Keliinoi was born on June 4th, 1958, and died on March 30th, 2018. During the years in between, she lived a beautiful life marked with love and service to others. Kim's death was sudden and unexpected, the result of a brain injury after a fall 2 months before her 60th birthday. As a lifelong follower of Christ's teachings, she died in a way that exemplified her selfless love in a characteristically saint-like manner: officially dying on Good Friday, and being kept artificially alive until Easter Sunday, when many of her vital organs could give new life to others in the OR.
Kim was born, raised, and died in San Diego County. However, she did enjoy traveling and was fortunate enough to visit many exciting places in her life including Hawaii, Europe, and more recently, Israel. In February 2018 Kim embarked on a 2-week tour through the Holy Land, visiting many historical sites from the bible, and eventually getting baptized in the River Jordan. This Israel trip had been on Kim's "bucket list" for many years, and she was thrilled to finally visit and "walk where Jesus walked". Before getting baptized, she expressed to the pastor that one of her reasons for being re-baptized in the River Jordan was because she wanted to "finish strong".
She finished very strong, and her absence will be felt by her friends and family for the rest of their lives. She is survived by her 3 adult children, Rachel, Thomas, & Jacob, her brother Alfredo, her ex-husband Tom, her grandson Isaac, and all the other lives she touched so deeply and lovingly over the years.
"Yet even in certain defeat, the courageous Kim secretly clung to the belief that life is not merely a series of meaningless accidents or coincidences. But rather, its a tapestry of events that culminate in an exquisite, sublime plan. Ultimately Kim concluded that if we are to live life in harmony with the universe, we must all possess a powerful faith."
