Born in Vienna, Austria, Karl became a U.S. citizen in June, 1959, when he was 10 years old. He was a resident of San Diego County for 49 years. He will be deeply missed by his loving and devoted wife of 30 years Deborah Anne Keller, Margarete Brei Keller, Karl's loving mother, loving son Kody Michael Keller and loving daughter Candace M. Keller-Claytor, loving Grandson Owen Keller-Claytor, Ryan Claytor, son-in-law, and Margie Keller (Margarete Taublaender), loving sister. Karl was preceded in death by his father, Otto Keller. After going to school at West Tech high school in Cleveland, Ohio, he completed his GED at the Armed Forces Institute, then received a business administration degree from Southwestern College in Chula Vista. Karl joined the U.S. Navy in 1968 where he served a four-year term, then continued in the reserves until October of 1974. He was stationed in San Diego and his major command was with the USS Kitty Hawk CVA-63. He received a national defense service medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, and Vietnam service medal. He was also Fleet Composite Squadron Seven's "Man of the Month" for June 1970. Karl and Deborah were married in July of 1989. For their honeymoon, they traveled to Vienna, Austria and had a beautiful and lovely time visiting the Keller and Brei families. They enjoyed experiencing the customs and traditions of the Austrian people and the hospitality of the Keller and Brei families. As a truck driver, Karl worked for companies such as Coca Cola Bottling Company, Crest Beverage, San Diego Cold Storage, and La Mesa RVs. Karl was a football fanatic and a die-hard fan of his Ohio State University Buckeyes for college and the Cleveland Browns of the NFL. The Cleveland Indians were his go-to baseball team. For hobbies, Karl enjoyed golfing, fishing, art (including water color and painting), and classic car shows, Motown music, discussions on history and politics, and reading, especially the book of Revelation.
