John L. Haney Jr, 73, of San Diego, Ca, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2022. John was born on January 16,1949 to John L. Haney Sr and Gloria Margaret Brown in Laredo, Tx. After graduating from Harlandale High School in 1967, He immediately enlisted into the US Navy to serve his country. In 1968, he met Eriberta Ciocson, and they wed in 1970, going on to have 3 children, John III, Mary and Joseph. After 20 years in the US Navy, he continued to work for SPAWAR as a civilian. After a total of 45 years working for the government he retired in 2019 where he spent his time playing bingo and relaxing in his comfy recliner watching wrestling and black and white westerns on tv. He was preceded in death by his father, mother and brother Michael R Haney. He is survived by his wife Eriberta, his brothers James and Mark Haney, his sisters Madeline Matheaus and Sandra Carraway, his son John III and wife Marsi Haney, his son Joseph Haney, his daughter Mary Haney and husband Fernando Segura, his grand daughters Adriana Angulo and fiancé Steven London and Grace Haney, his grandsons Nathan and Nicholas Haney, and great grandson Bennett London. A celebration of life will be held at Legacy Funeral and Cremation Care on September 8, 2022 and laid to rest at Miramar National Cemetery with full military honors on September 9, 2022
