In loving memory of Joanna Lee Talbott, born on December 10th, 1925 in Kansas City, Missouri, to Insley and Goldie Dayhoff. She died February 19th, 2017 in La Mesa, CA. Joanna was preceded in death by her husband, John T. Talbott, her brothers James Dayhoff, Jack Dayhoff, and her sisters Betty Stave and Helen Payne. Joanna met and then married the love of her life, John, on May 24, 1946. They cherished each other and remained side by side for over 62 years until John's unfortunate passing in 2007. Joanna was an avid bowler and played in many leagues over the years, traveling all over for tournaments and winning many trophies. When she couldn't bowl any longer after an injury, she binge-watched most athletic events on TV for golf, tennis, bowling and baseball. She also was quite the blackjack player and loved to go to the casinos. Her true passion throughout the years was traveling the world with John, and friends John and Carol Cheesbrough, Bob and Frieda Sturm, and the large group from Los Angeles, the California Landscape Lighting group, headed by Dave and Marian McWilliams. More recently, she traveled with her children and their spouses, and her granddaughter. Some of her destinations included a bicycle trip through France and Holland, the Far East, Near East, Caribbean, British Isles, Mexican Riviera, and her favorite destination of Hawaii. Joanna was a true historian for her family. She kept track of everyone's events, birthdays, anniversaries, so she could share with the rest of us, her way of keeping us all connected. She had a wonderful group of friends she met with for weekly "girls lunch. She always looked forward to those days. She was loved by so many friends and family, always willing to lend a hand, or an ear. She was blessed to have met all her great-grandchildren and will be truly missed by all. We take comfort knowing she is no longer suffering or having to live in a diminished state. She did it her way, living by herself in her own house to the age of 91 and still drove a little. She is now reunited with John, and we have another angel to watch over us. Joanna leaves behind her daughter, Marcia Eastburg and husband David; her son, Jon Talbott and his wife Nazilla; her granddaughter Kimberly Joanne Bailey and great-granddaughter, Alysandra; her grandson, Steven Bailey, his wife Susan and their 4 children, Nathan, Connor, Arayelli, and Maddison; her sister-in-law, Lois Dayhoff; her brother-in-law David Keith Talbott, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and their spouses. In lieu of flowers, Joanna and the family would like donations made to the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, Wounded Warriors Project, or perhaps another charity of your choice. A memorial "Celebration of Life" will be planned at a later date.
