Jim (James) William Detzel, 49, passed away suddenly on May 28, 2016 in San Diego, CA, where he resided since 2004 with his devoted soul mate of nearly 24 years, Karen. As a young man in St. Louis, MO, Jim achieved status as an Eagle Scout, attended Affton Christian Church, and Affton HS. Later, Jim attended college at MSU in Springfield, MO. Notable employers included Washington School of Dental Medicine, and hotel properties in Springfield, MO, Ft. Lauderdale, FL and San Diego, CA.
Jim is survived by Karen, many long term friends, and his Mother (Evelyn) and Brother (John). Private memorial services are encouraged for loved ones who want to remember Jim's sense of humor, kindness, sensibility, and appreciation for the world around us. . A tree will be planted in Jim's honor at Tahoe National Forest and a memorial stone placed at Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico.
