Dr. James Alan Cloyd passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, on August 2, 2016. He was born on November 11, 1949 in East Cleveland, Ohio, raised in Lima, Ohio and was a graduate of both The Ohio State University and The Ohio State University School of Dentistry. He practiced dentistry, first as an officer in the U.S. Army, and then owned private practices in San Diego for 40 years. Dr. Cloyd was proud to have served multiple generations of patients, and took joy in making sure dental care was available to those in the community who could least afford it. He is survived by his wife, Sarah, and daughters Katelyn, Jaime and Haley of San Diego, as well as his brother, Gil, of Austin, Texas. A celebration of Jim's life will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2016 for family, friends, patients and colleagues.
