Jim, after a long fight with prostate cancer at the age of 67, passed away at home as he wished with family and care givers near. Jim was born in San Diego, CA to Clarence (Sonny) & Eleanor (Ellie) Banister. He attended Mount Miguel High School and Humboldt State University. His professional career of 35 years was a Land Surveyor working with various engineering firms and construction projects throughout San Diego County.
Jim enjoyed life with family and friends always staying busy completing home projects, cooking, gardening and playing some poker too. His favorite sporting pastimes were football, golf, scuba diving, motor sports and horse racing. He will be remembered for his joker sense of humor, creative artistic abilities with a kind understanding spirit, love and loyalty to family, friends and animals. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Jim is survived by his two children James and Jennifer and their spouses Emmy and Luke, five grandchildren Makenna, Taylor, Bailey, Nathan and Chase, two sisters Joyce and Judy.
Memorial donations in lieu of flowers can be made to any charity organization of your choice.
A celebration of life will be announced and held at a future date.
