Jacob Lentz Shough was born July 19th, 1925, the eldest of 13 siblings. He worked on several farms as a youth, doing manual labor and carpentry with his father, taking care of cows, pigs, and horses, in rural Columbus, Ohio. Jacob enlisted in the Navy two years before the termination of the war. He remained stationed in San Diego after Honorable Discharge in 1946, whereupon he met his the love of his life, Alice Francisco. Upon leaving the Navy, the two were soon married, and Jacob enrolled in night classes to obtain his carpentry license, all the while working for Solar Turbines. Jacob worked for Solar Turbines for more than 45 years, enjoying carpentry and home building work, raising two sons, John and George, in his Mission Hills home. Retiring in 1990, Jacob spent most of his leisure time helping others with carpentry projects and taking care of his home, surrounded by his loved ones. The rest of his leisure time was spent lovingly taking care of his grandson, Cody. Whether called Boss, Mr. Shough, Uncle Jake, or Papa, Jacob was and is loved by his surviving family, who mourned his passing in the afternoon of the 14th of April, 2017. With his passing goes one of the most gentle and loving human beings, truly one of the greatest
