Harold "Charlie" Layn Marvel, 82, was born on July 12, 1933 and resided in El Cajon, CA when he passed away in the comfort of his home surrounded by the love and presence of his family on June 23, 2016.
Harold grew up in Oklahoma City. When he was just 16 years old he joined the US Navy and honorably served his country. Harold married his true love, Elaine, in 1960 in San Diego, CA. The love these two shared was undeniable and they had a bond that could never be broken.
After Harold served our great country he retired from the US Navy in 1973. During his time with the US Navy, he fought in the Korean and Vietnam wars. He earned numerous medals, such as: Navy Marine Corps Achievement, Good Conduct, National Defense Service, China Service, Korea Service, Korea Service United Nations, Vietnam Service, Armed Forces Expeditionary, Republic of Vietnam Campaign, Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation (Bronze and Silver), and Expert Pistol Shot.
Harold is survived by his four children: Billie and her husband Robert Anderson, Shannon and her husband Clifford Conklin, David and his wife Deanne Marvel, and Michael and his wife Wendy Marvel, eight grandchildren and finally four great grandchildren. He was the patriarch of the family and was influential to all of his children and grandchildren.
Although Harold is greatly missed, there is no doubt that his sweet bride, Elaine, was greeting him in Heaven with his angel wings and they are finally together again as they should be.
