Frank was born in Mazara Del Vallo, Sicily on December 14th 1956 to Arcangela and Matteo Asaro. At the age of 4 Frank's father finally made the decision to move his family which included Frank's Mother, older brother John and two older sister's Maria and Anna to the United States to be with Frank's Grandparent's Barbara and Giovanni Asaro, his Uncle Joe, Uncle Frank, Uncle Guy and Aunt Jenny who were already in the States. They settled in San Diego in what is now known as Little Italy. Frank came from a family of fishermen; that is not the route he decided he would follow. He was introduced to the plastering trade at the ripe age of 10 years old by his brother in law Steve. Plastering ended up being his life long profession, which he grew a passion for and took great pride in . On July 29th,1978 at 21 years old Frank married his life long love Sylvia. July 29th, 2016 would have marked 38 years together. They raised 3 beautiful daughters Jessica 36, Angie 32 and Stephanie 29. Frank was a hands on dad. He coached all 3 girls in softball which became a big part of his life. After the girls grew up he needed something to fill the gap so he took up golf. Little did he know where this sport would lead him. The friendships he made, the places he would travel, it was truly an unexpected life change. Fridays were always the highlight of Franks week. He looked forward to a competitive game of golf and spending time with his buddies. Frank also played coed softball on Sundays with his girls. He may have been the oldest on the team but he could run circles around everyone. Frank was blessed with a great family and wonderful friends who enjoyed his love of life and great sense of humor.Frank had created a good life for himself; between traveling , spending time with his many friends, family get togethers and having a profession that he loved. he was often heard saying " I Love My LIfe!" The highlight of Franks life was in May of 2013. After 50 years he made it back to his birth place of Mazara Del Vallo, Sicily. It was a truly life changing experience. He left there at such a young age he had no memories. This trip was a full circle for him. Frank is a Grandpa or as he liked to be called " El Capitan" to Jeffrey aka "Guido" 2 years and Ava Capri 1 year. Frank never had a son but he was blessed to have his son-in-law Michael who filled that space. Michael was his partner in crime when he needed a reprieve from all the female energy that surrounded him. Frank had a full life in his 59 years. Our love for him will never end and forever in our hearts he will stay. In Lieu of flowers we ask that you donate to The San Diego Breath of Hope Fund in memory of Frank Asaro " Frank's Fighters".
