Francis Xavier Herget will always be remembered for his wit and humor. When he was asked what the X stood for in his middle name, he would always respond with "excited" to whoever was asking. Everyone knew him as Frank, and his contagious laugh was hard to miss. He created laughter and memories everywhere he went and loved to share his funny experiences with family and friends. He lived in Pacific Beach, CA for 53 years while married to the love of his life, Juliana. Together, they raised 3 beautiful daughters Lisa, Christy, and Suzanne in the same home in which he took immense pride in. He enjoyed gardening and maintaining his home. He loved to cook and was a master at barbecuing chicken, which he prepared every Sunday for friends and family. Frank was proud to have served in the US Navy during the Korean War and was still in touch with some his valued shipmates on the USS Cabot. He graduated from the University of Arizona, where he earned a bachelors degree in Engineering. He became a highly skilled Electrical Engineer and retired from Westinghouse in upper management after 30 dedicated years. Frank loved deep sea fishing, water activities, and living near the ocean. In his younger days, he enjoyed a daily run on the beach followed by an ice cold beer while sitting on the boardwalk visiting with friends and people watching. He was an extraordinary father to his 3 girls and an exceptional grandfather, great grandfather, and uncle. He encouraged, set the best examples, was honest and faithful, he understood, and loved us all unconditionally. He was a very generous man to his entire family, friends, and favorite charities. Frank brought so much joy and laughter to this world and we will miss him so much. We are comforted knowing he will rest at Fort Rosecrans next to his wife Juliana. In love and peace we say goodbye for now until we see you again.
