1971-2017 Mr. Edward Han Yang Yu, 45, of San Diego California, passed away on Saturday, July 8, 2017, after succumbing to his battle with cancer. Born in Guilin, China on 09-30-1971, son of Mr. Jia Liu Yu and Mrs. Yu Sun, Edward attended elementary school and most of middle school in the city of Guilin in his mother's hometown. In 1983 Edward and his family moved to the city of Guang Zhou in the province of Guang Dong, where his father was raised. Edward continued his education there and finished high school in 1990. Edward then went on to Foreign Language School to study English for 2 years. After obtaining his formal education, Edward worked as a technician in Guangzhou Dachang Auto Repair from 1992- 2003. Edward selected this job to help him learn the skills necessary to prepare him for a career in America. In April 2003, Edward immigrated to the United States to reunite with his parents. While in the states, Edward initially worked as an automotive technician but in September 2004, Edward decided to join the U.S. Navy. While in the Navy, Edward enjoyed the many beautiful and glorious countries that he visited around the world: Japan, Dubai, Korea, Canada, Mexico, Guam and Hawaii. He would often send pictures back to his family and relatives to share the experiences of his world travels. While on duty, he would call his Aunt Lily often to tell her about the wonderful places he was visiting. In 2009, Edward decided to settle down in his life while continuing to serve in the navy. Edward chose the San Diego naval base surrounding as his home. As a result of his decision, Edward's parents and sister all moved down to reside in San Diego county to be closer to him. Due to his good study habits and strong work ethic, Edward quickly rose through the ranks and became a Logistics Specialist First Class Petty Officer (E-6). Edward's responsibility as a LS1 Petty Officer involved managing general supply inventories and issuing repair parts for the ship. He loved his life in the Navy and devoted his heart to his family. On September 1, 2009, Edward married his lovely wife, Jin Yu Tan. On July 7, 2010 the couple bore their handsome son, Rui Lin "Randy" Yu. Edward leaves behind his dear wife, Jin Yu Tan, his loving parents Jia Liu Yu and Yu Sun, his 7 year old son, Rui Lin Yu, sister Joyce, brother-in-law Li Shen, nephew Sunny and many aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends. We will truly miss him. Until we all meet again…one day in heaven.
