IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dennis
King
March 3, 1950 – January 5, 2026
Dennis Leon King, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, Marine veteran, and lifelong enthusiast of life's adventures, passed away peacefully at home in San Diego, California, on January 5, 2026. He was 75 years old.
Born in Knoxville, Tennessee, on March 3, 1950, to Joetta King and Ebb King Jr., Dennis grew up surrounded by family in the heart of East Tennessee. He graduated from West High School in 1969 and proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He received an honorable discharge in 1975 and moved to California.
After his military service, Dennis built a successful career in the printing industry. He worked as a plant manager for many years before fulfilling his entrepreneurial spirit by owning and operating his own printing company. After overcoming lung cancer and many other health challenges, he retired in 2010, having left a lasting impact through his dedication and expertise.
Dennis's passions brought joy to those around him. An avid scuba diver, he loved exploring the ocean depths. He was a fierce supporter of the Tennessee Volunteers football team, never missing a chance to cheer them on. He also cherished owning and driving classic cars, often sharing stories and rides with family and friends.
A profound part of Dennis' life was his unwavering commitment to honoring the memory of his brother, Cpl. Gerald E. King, who was killed in 1968 while serving in Vietnam. Dennis dedicated much of his time and heart to preserving Jerry’s legacy, ensuring his sacrifice was never forgotten.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Joetta and Ebb King Jr., and his brothers Gerald and Kenneth.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Margie; his children, Denise King Harvey, Dennis "Casey" King, Jason Garff, and Jamie Garff, along with their spouses; his 11 cherished grandchildren, who were the light of his life; his brother Terry; as well as extended family and a host of lifelong friends.
A private family committal service was held in San Diego at Miramar National Cemetery on January 20, 2026, where he was laid to rest.
Dennis will be remembered for his quiet strength, generous spirit, love of family, and deep sense of duty. He lived a full life filled with service, adventure, and unwavering loyalty to those he loved.
