If the world had more people like Dennis Michael Burgin, it would be a much kinder place. During his life time he served for the United States Marine Corps in Vietnam and as a fireman at Camp Pendleton in Oceanside, CA.
Though he had a simple life, he always found room to give. His heart was gentle and generous. He was loved and appreciated by all who had the honor of knowing him.
For the past 23 years he spent his most treasured moments with the love of his life, Judith Westbrook, known to him as "Geoff". Their love endured many challenges throughout the years and will continue through time to live on after hugs are no longer here to give and receive. The priceless memories of such will last forever.
Dennis' love did not stop with deeds of kindness. He acted as a father and grandfather to Geoff's children and grandchildren, whose lives he changed to an unmeasurable extent.
The laughter, hard times, happy moments, wonderful cooking and so much more will live on with each memory that will be kept alive and cherished daily forever and always.
May he rest in peace now that he does not have to be held in the pain of bondage in his body. No more suffering. You are free.
A poem was written by his step-daughter, Heather, in dedication to his selfless duty as a step-father.
DAD
Through so many tears
And even more fears
You were there for us
Always someone to trust
With dignity and pride
You stayed right by my side
Supported me through birth
Showed everyone your true worth
For your country, sacrificing all
Standing strong and standing tall
Never cared what people said
Turned the other cheek instead
The best man the world ever had
I am so honored to have called you 'DAD'
