Dennis Randall Barnes was born to Donald and Dorothy Barnes on August 6th, 1951 in Los Angeles, CA at the The California Hospital on Hope Street. His birth came as the Barnes family was moving from Needles, CA to La Mesa, CA. Dennis is survived by his wife of 30 years, Katherine Barnes, his four children, Joseph Barnes, Lori Smith, James Evans, and Kristin Ramirez, his sister, Victoria Roza, and his 6 grandchildren. After graduating from Helix High School in 1969, Dennis spent his professional career putting one of his ultimate talents and passions to use. He was a home remodeler and General contractor as the founder and owner of his family business, Local Builders for 30+ years. In his silent thunder ways, he dedicated years and years of his life as a volunteer baseball, basketball, and football coach, having a lasting impact on generations of youth. Never asking for any acknowledgment or recognition, he had so much love and pride for sports and coaching young kids. The phrase, "a heart of gold" gets tossed around quite a bit but he truly had the warmest and most caring soul, especially for children. He inspired us all to be a better parent and harder worker. He exemplified a character that you are lucky to witness maybe once in a lifetime. Not even for one instance did he ever make anything about him, always putting his loved ones so far ahead of him. With that said, we ask at this time you join us in celebrating Dennis' life, and, finally make it about him. His celebration of life on earth will take place at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in La Mesa, CA on Saturday, August 24, at 10 am. His photographic memory was almost as strong as the lasting memory he will leave in our hearts forever.
