Delbert Arnold Workman, age 78, died at home in San Diego, CA, on Sunday, December 3, 2017. He was born on May 27, 1939 in Chehalis, Washington and grew up in a small logging town in Riffe, WA. He had a simple upbringing with a strict religious beginning, but was very proud of the way he was raised and stayed connected to classmates and friends. Del moved to San Diego in the summer of 1958. He was an airplane mechanic and loved his time flying with Golden State Flying Club. He worked for the Federal Government as a Program Analyst for 39 years. After retirement, he had a tax preparation, consulting, and bookkeeping business. He earned a MBA from National University graduating Summa Cum Laude. He enjoyed the outdoors and spoke often of his childhood adventures in the hills of Washington State. He loved taking walks with his family at Mission Trails, Cowles Mountain and Lake Murray and playing with his great-grandchildren at the park. Del had a witty sense of humor and was very outgoing. He had many "Del-isms" that his family will continue to repeat bringing laughter into our hearts and an ongoing Legacy of our time spent together. He loved to meet new people and was blessed by the many conversations and laughs he had with neighbors & friend and anyone else he encountered. Del was a longtime football fan and rooted for University of Washington, Huskies and San Diego, Chargers (well- not always). He was a very loving and devoted caretaker of his beloved wife Nancy. They went on many exciting adventures in their 36 years of marriage including a trip to Europe and the Holy Land. His interests were varied and constantly changing and they included reading factual information, camping in the dessert or Mexico, tennis, leatherwork, photography, travel, flying, car racing, real estate and anything with technology. He liked to own the latest electronic gadget and could fix almost anything. He was a long time member of MENSA. In his own words about himself- I know a whole lot about a few things; I know a little bit about many things; and, I am interested in just about everything especially those things that I've never heard of!! Del is survived by his wife of 36 years Nancy (Plante) Workman, daughters Geri A. Yost (Derrick Yoder) and Gayle Worthington (Mark); Grandchildren: Ryan Yost (Amanda), Heather Wells, Lynette Wenhardt (Matthew), and Travis Wells; Great Grandchildren: Andrew and Tyler Wenhardt. He was preceded in death by his parents Clavey and Olga (Nikos) Workman and his brother, Gilbert Workman. We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. And this hope will not lead to disappointment Romans 5:3-5 Services will be held on:
