David was born on August 23, 1947 in Olympia Washington. He was the only child of Sadie and Clarence Erickson. When he was just a toddler his parents relocated to San Diego where he spent the rest of his days. David graduated from Crawford High School in 1965. After dating Rose Marie Nauenburg for a couple of years they were married on October 16, 1966. Rose Marie was the love of his life, and this year would have marked their 50th Wedding Anniversary. In 1967 they had their first child Dennis Erickson, followed by Jeanette Erickson in 1972, and their youngest child Nancy Erickson in 1981. David worked at Nelson's Auto parts at the beginning of his adult life then realized he was better suited working for himself. He opened and ran several business over the years. He wholesaled and retailed cars, owned Campbell's Auto Wrecking in Otay Mesa, co-owned Mira Mesa Rent-a-Car, then finished his working years wholesaling cars through Dave's Auto Sales. Shortly after retiring David started buying and restoring vintage bicycles. Over the last several years he had dove into restoring several vintage cars that he had longed for since childhood. David was a wonderful father and husband! He was an extremely hard working man who taught his children the value of a dollar, and how hard work pays off. Despite his rugged appearance and demeanor he had a very soft heart, and loved to help people out when in need. He was also a huge animal lover, and was a loving father to many, many dog kids over the years. David is preceded in death by his mother and father, and too many dog children to name. He is survived by his wife Rose Marie Erickson who suffers from Dementia. His son Dennis, his daughter Jeanette and son-in-law Paul, their 3 children, Blanca, Paulette and Daphne, and his daughter Nancy and son-in-law Derek. He will be truly missed until we see him again. A Celebration of Life will take place on Friday November 4th @ 6pm ~ The Elk's Lodge 1400 E Washington, El Cajon, CA 92019.
