Every morning she read the paper checking the obituaries to make sure she wasn't there. Unfortunately today she is. She died after a rapid decline in the last week of her life and a brief stay in hospice. Cora Lea meant so much to so many over her 101 years. Generations grew up with her as the matriarch of our family.
She will be missed by her two daughters, five grandchildren, and 4 great granddaughters, as well as numerous cousins both local and distant. She was the daughter of Harriett and Daniel Phillips, a civil war veteran, of Jasper, Arkansas. She married Alvin Matthew Johnson who died in 2003.
She enjoyed visiting with friends and family, shopping, and in her youth walking, golf, crochet, and visiting the zoo. She loved parties and making new friends. So many losses in such a long life so many joyful reunions in heaven. Let our remembrances of her be kind and be a comfort in our sorrow. In lieu of flowers please consider donations to Sharp Hospice who were so compassionate and attentive to her in her final days.
