Rene Bolt, beloved wife and mother, was born in Galloway, West Virginia to Lorenzo and Ines Begnis Mainetti on February 24, 1929. She is survived by two siblings who live Connecticut: Nick Mainetti and Lorina Burress. She is predeceased by three siblings: Anna Ghiroli, John Mainetti and Angelina Mainetti.
Rene attended high school in Guilford, Connecticut where she was salutatorian of her class. She studied Governmental Accounting at UCSB and retired from the County of Santa Barbara's Internal Audit Division.
On August 20, 1949 she married Burton Bolt in Guilford, Connecticut. They had four children: Janice Bolt Bacon, deceased, Cathleen Bolt, deceased, Ellen Bolt Catt, (m. Larry Catt), and Thomas Bolt (m. Lise Flocken); eight grandchildren: Joshua Nix, Emily Catt Turner (m.Taylor Turner), Christopher Catt (m. Kylin), Adam Bolt (m. Stephanie), Kyle Hunter Bolt (m. Rachael), Tayah Bolt, Carter Bolt, Maisy Bolt,: and nine great grandchildren.
Together with her husband Burt, they built and operated the Crestline Motel and Burt's Garage in Connecticut before moving to Santa Barbara California in 1962.
Rene Bolt was active in the Santa Barbara Elks Lodge #613 from 1979 to1987, serving as First Lady from 1982-1983 when her husband Burton Bolt was Exalted Ruler of the Elks Lodge.
To her children she modeled excellence in all aspects of her life and stressed the importance of higher education. Rene was caring, friendly and talented. Her heart was vested in her family, friends and her home.
Rene and her husband Burt enjoyed traveling in their RV for 30 years and also traveled overseas to 57 countries. She chronicled her travel adventure
in 46 picture albums. They loved to play bridge with friends, often playing in tournaments to raise money for charity.
Funeral services at the Santa Barbara Cemetery will be private.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to MARC Community Resources, a charity organization to benefit people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Rene and Burt Bolt were founding members of MARC in honor of their daughter, Cathleen Bolt, who was a special needs child.
