It is with great sadness, Gerry's family announces her passing on Wednesday March 13, 2019 at the age of 89. She was an amazing Partner, Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. Gerry was born April 16, 1929 in Oklahoma. In 1949, she settled in San Diego, Ca., residing in La Mesa for 55 years. One of Gerry's greatest qualities was her passion for helping others. She was the first PTA President at Brier Patch Elementary, and volunteered for many years in a variety of organizations that helped form the community of which she was so proud. Gerry was a proud member of the American Legion Post 282 Women's Auxiliary for over 30 years. She served many roles in the Auxiliary, including President. Gerry was a natural for "the stage", and lead the Auxiliary for over 25 years as the Mistress of Ceremonies in their annual "Hag Show" fundraising event. Gerry's 20 years as a bartender at Post 282 won her the hearts of many. Gerry's love for God and Country, and her passion to share it with others, landed her the role as a Chairman for California Girl's State for over 15 years. Girl's State assists female High School students by increasing knowledge and awareness of the governmental process while learning about the duties, privileges, rights and responsibilities of being citizens in the United States. Perhaps Gerry's greatest passions, aside from her family, was her love of nature. She was an avid fisherwoman, she spent countless hours fishing and camping in the Sierras along it's many lakes and streams. For those family and friends who fished with Gerry, she will be remembered as being the last one on the water, insisting on "just one more cast"! Gerry will be forever remembered by her Partner Gerald Chapman, her Children Darla Rosendahl, Jeannie Radogna, Jan Knudson & Chuck Cadwalader II, her Grandchildren Dawn, Patrick, Haley, Dayne, Tami, Dave, Chaz & Max as well as her Great Grandchildren Wesley, Brianne, Kourtny, Kayla, Vanessa, Courtney, & Everly. Gerry is preceded in death by her husband Charles Cadwalader. A Celebration of Life will be held in memory of Gerry at the home of Wayne and Darla Rosendahl, Saturday, April 20th from 1:00-4:00 p.m. 2251 Alpine Trail Place, Alpine CA 91901. The family is asking guests who attend to please bring a photo which best portrays your fondest memories of Gerry. All pictures will be placed on a memory board at the ceremony for all to view.
