Alex was a devoted brother to Kevin Funk, and adored son to Mia and John Funk. He was cherished by his multiple family members and large circle of friends. Born in Sacramento, where he was active in a variety of interests including volunteering at the local food bank.
Alex and his family moved to San Diego last year, and he relished in the time he spent with his extended family. Alex attended Serra High School and had a network of friends. He enjoyed spending time with his dog T2, riding his bike and scooter, creating poetry and music, drawing, and joking during 'family nights'. Alex's light was bright, a beckon to many. Some of his last words were that his "heart was happy", a phrase that he would share with loved ones throughout his life.
Services will be held at Good Samaritan Church 4321 East Gate Mall, San Diego, 92121. March 25 at 11:00am.
In lue of flowers the family requests plants such as lavender, citrus, roses, and rosemary to complete the "smells like home (Sacramento) garden" he had been working on with his mother.
